"Homage to 2022"

written and performed by Flloyd (with 2 Ells) Kennedy. Inspired by a poetry challenge set by the Dead Good Poets Society of Liverpool in January 2022 to write a limerick with the first line "In the year of 2022". By April 2022 I'd written 3 more verses and a chorus, to be premiered by Fairy Bessie at Filla Crack's Pre-Easter Drag Cabaret at the Everyman Theatre Bistro Bar. She intends to sing it until 31st December 2022, in the hope that it might—eventually—become not just irreverant, but also irrelevant... Not Seeing Straight

Episode 1 of Season 4 kicks off with Helen calling up her daughter Janey for help.  This doesn't happen often, so it must be something very serious.  She is about to celebrate her 78th birthday, so it's possible she's also about to get the answer to the question, i.e. is she old yet? Bringing Up Gran

Episode 12, bring Season 3 to a close.  Susie has been delegated to try to find out why Helen, her grandmother, is so unhappy.  It's obvious Helen doesn't want her memoir to be published, but no one can understand why, and her family are very worried about her. It seems an over-anxious daughter is nothing compared to an over-anxious mother. This is the final episode of Season 3.  I'm going to take a break, hopefully come up with something bright and shiny new for Season 4.  In the meantime, if you can possibly afford to make a small donation via https://buymeacoffee.com/amIoldye (https://buymeacoffee.com/amIoldyet) t, it would help to help the ongoing life of the podcast.  Thanks so much for listening. And today's challenge is...

Episode 10. Helen's elder sister, Marian, has dementia, but she still manages to phone up from Rockhampton in Australia for a chat. Helen has a problem with the memoir she was commissioned to write, but which she really doesn't want to have published, although she can't explain why. And Harry next door struggles to accept that he's too frail to climb ladders any more.  Ah me, as the poet George Melling says "Don't get old. It puts years on you!" If you are enjoying these little vignettes, peeks into the life of an elderly woman and her family and friends as they try to get by in a challenging world, please take a moment to rate it, and review it, in your podcasting app. Or by leaving a few words on the website https://amIoldyet.com/reviews. It would help enormously by encourage more folk to listen, boost my stats and possibly even lead to some donations to help cover the costs of producing it.  You can find out more about Dementia research at https://www.dementiauk.org/ Thank you! …
